Paula and Chris really embraced the handfasting ritual and made it a central part of their outdoor ceremony in the luscious natural surrounds of a forest.
They chose to have their two hands fastened together as they stood side by side, hers on top and interlacing her fingers through his.
This allowed for a celebratory salute with accompanying applause from the guests...
And also for the couple to walk through the guests, hands still attached, and receive their good will and congratulations.
